March, already!

Slowly, things are falling into place with our clinical trip. We have the official flight details, and we've started to plan part of what we will be doing while we are there. Our group will be presenting several different teaching projects to the orphanages as well as the schools that we are visiting. My small group is presenting on handwashing. What is drilled into us from the beginning of nursing school: handwashing is the #1 way to stop the transmission of infections...and we will be teaching the methods of handwashing to LOTS of kiddos, and adults too!

Our aggregate project is going to be vision screening-about 600 girls in all! However, as there are limited financial resources where we are traveling, we are asking all of our friends and family, if they have old pairs of glasses to donate them to us. This is so that after we screen a girl who has a vision impairment, we can actually help them by providing them with a pair of glasses so that they don't fall behind in their learning!

We are also collecting college textbooks to take to the University in Busoga. The nursing school there has a very small library of textbooks that the students must share; here we are fortunate to each have our own set of books for learning. Any textbooks that are recent (the past 5 years) are welcome :)

If there is anyone who has resources to share, please contact me! Love to all.
