Back to School...

Today was my first day of the spring semester-a general "orientation" to the Senior 1 experience and a clinical meeting regarding our upcoming trip to Uganda. Although details are still being worked out, I have a tentative itinerary, packing list and to-do list (vaccines, paperwork etc.)! I am getting really excited...and I can't believe there is only 3 and a half months until we depart! YIKES!

Included in the clinical work will be a trip to a School for Blind, a visit to the "witch doctor", time at the local hospitals for maternity nursing experience, educational/outreach to the community on HIV, caring for children at an Orphanage....oh yeah, and we will also be doing vision screening on 600 girls. Yes, 600. We will be starting to collect donations for our trip, and once we have discussed further I will get a "wish-list" out to everyone-friends, family, co-workers.

And, although it is mostly a working trip, we will have a few play days-tours of the National Parks, a trip to the Nile River for rafting (!!!), visiting Wildlife Reserves and a shopping day in Kampala. How exciting!
