I cannot believe that in exactly 30 days I will be on a plane to Africa. I am a bundle of nervousness and excitement. This is becoming a reality MUCH faster than I ever imagined. With only 30 days left to plan, pack, organize and finalize the details, there is SO much that I have to think about and prepare for! So the updates: we have over 500 pairs of glasses (so amazing-thank you to everyone that has donated!) that we will be bringing to Uganda with us, lots of toys and other gifts for the kids, textbooks for the University and lots of other stuff that I don't even know about. I am wondering if we are going to be able to fit all of our stuff in our suitcases??? And to top everything off, I am definitely not a light packer. Which means I am in trouble, I think. Our travel arrangements are still on the tentative side. That's code for I have no idea about our final travel plans, where we are staying, for sure our flight information or any of the other major details. Lucky for me I am super stressed about other things, and I think I have reached a max stress level, and have no more stress to add regarding the trip to Africa. I have thrown all of my expectations out of the window-I think it is better to go into the trip with an open mind, so I can just "be" in the moment and experience everything Uganda has. And as the trip is nearing, I am wondering if I am going to be "living" on the dirt/sand in a hut. Maybe I should cross off the shampoo, soap and other essentials from my packing list? Haha.
Well, for today, this is all. I am off to take an exam, write a paper and do many other school related things that I have dwindling motivation for. So this is what "senioritis" feels like...

April Showers....bring snow on my early May flowers
We've been having some typical crazy weather here...last week it was in the 60-70 degree range, and this week we had 3 inches of snow. I am looking forward to traveling where it will certainly be much (!!!) warmer than it is here!
I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and donations for our clinical work! I have received responses from all over the country, even from family and friends of my family and friends! Today I received a package from NYC: 4 pairs of glasses! I also have received numerous textbooks. It has been a heartwarming experience already! I am getting more excited and a little nervous, too, as our departure date nears. This week I have talked in depth with my wonderful co-workers about my trip; they have been so supportive with me taking the time off from work here in the US. Everyone asks about new developments, how I'm feeling and what I still need to do to get ready. I am so blessed to have such wonderful support :)
41 days and counting!
